- 1776. Selah Banning came of age on the West Indies island of Nevis, on her father's sugar plantation. When Methodist preacher Jedediah Reed settles on the plantation to serve slaves, their shared purpose brings them together. But her guardians are concerned over a romance that promises little security. As the Revolutionary War continues to build in the States, and the conflict with island mogul Angus Shubert grows stronger, the future of the Double T and its people hangs in the balance
