Summary
Proving Up is a collection of poems and essays revealing a woman's life lived on homesteads and small towns of Wyoming. Beginning in the 1940s, the author remembers her love of the land, the tenacious bonds of family, the work ethic of people like her dad who worked his farm and raised his family with all he had, and the abiding faith of her grandmothers who proved that all the struggles, great and small, are worth it. As a little girl, she trailed behind her grandmother from the chicken coop to the milking pen. She fought with her sister and struggled with her father's iron edicts. Later, she met and married the first boy she ever kissed, and followed her mother's words, put the children first. Many of the pieces were published in other venues.--, Amazon.com
