Summary
In 1970, Shane Paul O'Doherty, only fifteen, joined the Provisional IRA. A witness of Bloody Sunday, he became head of the IRA explosives. During the summer of 1973 he conducted a lone campaign of letter bombs in London. He was arrested during a ceasefire in the summer of 1975 and received 30 life sentences; he served a sentence of fourteen years. From his prison cell, O'Doherty wrote letters of apology to his victims
