Summary
When Maisie's parents are divorced six-year-old Maisie is divided in two. They would take her, in rotation, for six months at a time; she would spend half the year with each. The relationships between Maisie's divorced parents and their subsequent partners are treated entirely through scenes in which she participates from her point of view, subtly and descreetly supplemented by the narrator's fuller understanding
