Summary
"Regina's Gift" is the gripping story of a William and Mary professor's physical, emotional and spiritual odyssey through one of life's greatest trials. In August of 2014, Dr. Regina Root, an Associate Professor of Hispanic Studies, was diagnosed with a deadly growth in the very center of her brain, so deep that two of the nation's premiere medical centers initially turned her down for surgical intervention because it would be too dangerous. Regina was left instead with the awful prospect of steadily declining health and quality of life for whatever time she had left. But them fate quickly took a hand in the form of a subsequent brain hemorrhage, forcing Regina and a cerebrovascular neurosurgeon at Johns Hopkins Hospital to re-think the options and roll the dice. A story of courage, determination and persistence in the face of insurmountable odds, "Regina's Gift" takes the viewer to where Regina and her family stood--at the intersection of science and faith--where playing it safe wasn't an option, and where the gambles they made potentially cost everything
