Summary
Friends Hetty, Byatt, and Reece go to extremes trying to uncover the dark truth about the mysterious disease that has had them quarantined at their boarding school on a Maine islandFirst the teachers died one by one. Then it began to infect the students, turning their bodies strange and foreign. Now, cut off from the rest of the world and left to fend for themselves on their island home, the students don't dare wander outside the Raxter School for Girls fence. The Tox has made the woods wild and dangerous. They were promised a cure, but the Tox is seeping into everything. When Byatt goes missing, Hetty breaks quarantine and braves the horrors that lie beyond the fence. And she learns that there's more to their story, to their life at Raxter, than she could have ever thought true. -- adapted from jacket
