Summary
The third book in the Sparrowhawk series of historical novels in which Jack Frake (Book One) and Hugh Kenrick (Book Two) meet in Colonial Virginia, as young men seeking their own fortunes and moral independence. Jack is a successful planter with a lifetime of experience between the day he was brought to Virginia as an indentured felon and years later when he meets Hugh. Hugh, after completing his education in Philadelphia, decides not to return to England immediately, but to purchase a plantation and turn it into something of his own. Both take extraordinary actions to preserve their lives and fortunes in the turbulent period following the French and Indian War
