Summary

(v. 1) Max, Fang, and Nudge set out for Death Valley to save Angel, who has been kidnapped by a sinister scientist. (v. 2) Max and her flock escape the school after recovering Angel, who shares what she has learned about their true identities, but Erasers follow them to New York, where Max ponders her destiny. (v. 3) Having narrowly escaped the Erasers in New York City, the flock heads to Washington, D.C. to try to find out more about themselves. After they are approached and offered sanctuary by the FBI, they try going to school and living normal lives, but the Erasers catch up with them and send them on the run again. (v. 4) Living with Anne has softened the flock, and Max is keenly aware that it's time to leave, but the flock wants to stay until after Thanksgiving. (v. 5) Escaping Itex in Florida, the flock head west with Max more burdened than ever by the knowledge she's meant to save the world
